Hi evfurry..we are happy to pawticipate again in The Cat on my heads bloggie hop of Sunday Selfies..of course WP does not do linkie poos so please hit the sidebar badge to see other Sunday Selfies around the world.
Today we have another guest selfie..to start the show..it’s our friend Eddy!
Eddy is an Echidna and he visits our property every summer..he comes to look for termites and ants..he is very thorough!
Eddy is a MONOTREME.. that means he…not he but Edwina his partner…is an egg laying mammal!
The only Monotremes in the world are Echidnas and Platypus! and only in Australia and New Guinea! so he is pretty darn special to us!
They are strong critters as anyone who has tried to pick one up while it is digging will tell you! and they make funny little growly grumbly sounds..their ‘nose’ is called a beak.
They partner for life and go their separate ways after their romance is over..MOL MOL…the ‘spikes’ on their backs are quills and made from Keratin the same as hair and nails..they fluff them up to protect themselves from predators, and they are sharp..just ask Mum who even with good gloves on has been jabbed a few times when trying to rescue them from the road.
It is often best to kind of shuffle them off the road as many injuries occur when they try to burrow into the bitumen..so best not to scare them if you can help it.
Mum has rescued a few from the roads..one had a broken scapula from a car hit..sadly he did not make it..but the other one Wes that she got did recover and was released not far from where he was found 6 weeks later..they are territorial so need release back to their home area if possible..
So a little bit about our special guy Eddy! and i have met him in the furs and he was very curious looking! Mum was with me and i was not at all trying to hurt him and she grabbed me up after i had a meet and greet and we let him go on his way 🙂
Have a super Sunday evfurry…paw pats Dinnermintz xxx

We know times are tough for a lot of peeps so even sharing on your fab blogs and sending the message out can make a huge difference.
Hi evfurry..well Dad is home at last ..he was gone for 87 years..seriously we had to help Mum with everything..it was nuts!
Dad spent his time away learning more about Road Rescue for the SES..for our friends overseas that stands for State Emergency Services.
These are the peeps you call when..a tree falls on your house or car..when you are flooded out and need rescue or sandbagging..when you are trapped in a vehicle and need to be cut out..also animal emergencies..such as we saw with sweet Pedro the weekend before.
This weekend Dad was again using things called the Jaws of life and other tools like big giant can openers..they practice on cars in different positions..on their roof..their side or around a tree..
The cars they use have been impounded by the police for hoon driving..so some good comes from being a bad driver..you are stopped from killing or hurting someone and your car is used to learn how to save those in accidents.
So Dad has lots to study but we are super glad he is home anyway..so glad that when he walked in in his bright orinche onesie as he calls it Forrest got super excited..Dad took his hand out of his pocket and dropped and ear plug..Forrest was thrilled to eat the ‘treat’ Dad bought home MOL..
So let’s see what is new..well Dinnerminzt has been working on that box still that Mum’s studifice chair came in..now Mum put two holes in the top..Dinnerminzt has been gnawing for Australia..and ..well we think soon she may have a bit of an accident herself!
Can you see how thin the cardboard is between the two holes! MOL..now i am not being mean but..Dinnerminzt is no featherweight..you know..so soon..well..she may need the Jaws of life..just sayin..thin ice indeed…
Dad and Mum have all but finished the veggie garden..Forrest has taken a keen interest in it..might be the pong of mushroom compost MOL..
Now it is fenced off to keep the boys safe from eating compost..no snail pellets or dangerous chemicals are used but still we try and keep safety in mind here.
So far Mum has planted Cauliflower,Red Kale,Golden sweet Beetroots,Silverbeet,Brussel Sprouts, and Rhubarb..she has planted seeds to sew later of Turnips ,Cavolo Nero, and a special green cauliflower called Cavolfiore..also some cornflower seeds and Delphiniums..
She still has to water as the rain is not really here much..but Dad is setting up a special watering system along the fence behind the veggies and all Mum has to do is turn a tap and they will go on!
Mum needs to give Twerker the scarecrow a new shirt and a head 🙂 Dad also put some hooks up on the fence for mums stakes..so she does not have to trip over in the barn 🙂
Mum and Dad used all the old red stones that used to be where our lovely grass is now and put them down on weedmat as paths between the garden beds ..they just have a bit more to do and that will be finished..
So Mum is really happy because she almost has as much veggie space as she had at our old house..and it is close to the house for easy access and the fence means the bunnies can’t eat the veggies..
And that bit of pretty garden is coming along..this bit was the part that hurt Mum’s wrist..this was all like concrete before she broke it up by hand and then filled it with great soil and compost..soon the whole length of this along the veggie garden will be done..Nice job Mum..
Anywho on to me Pickles..well..Marbles beat me up again the other day..Mum came to my rescue and straight away i said thanks with some biscuits..
Why she was wincing and gritting her teeth i don’t know..MOL..Marbles has been a bit more cranky than her normal self..Mum is watching her in case she is unwell..she seems ok..just cranky..
Doc and Forrest took Mum for a nice walk to see the roos…Mum said her shoulder got discombobulated whatever that means but i think it means the boys saw roos MOL..she tried to do a selfie wIth them but they were both looking for roos..poor Mum…
So that is our mixed on Monday..have a great week friends and Mum will help us catch up with you all as now she has Dad home she can share the work..boy anyone would think Mum had 9 demanding pets…oh that’s right she does..MOL..
Today Dad worked from home, he does this sometimes..but today we saw that Mum was packing stuff in a bag..and we saw our super long ropes.
We use these in the dam..so we thought Dad was going to have a break and come with Mum and us to the dam.
Instead we were taken to the car..and it didn’t even go the VET way so we knew we were not going to be jabbed or have our furs stolen!
We were in the car for a bazillion hours (30 minutes) and when it stopped…WOW..so much water..we had arrived at a place called Cairn Curran..and we were off..with our harnesses (except mine broke and Dad was not impressed! ) and our super long ropes..see we would swim to China and we are getting old..so safety first!!
So we had a blast..we chased our pool noodle toys Dad made us and swam and then went for a super walk..we could smell Seagulls and Pelicans and that cheesy Driftwood Mum got us the last time SHE went and i could even smell Hares!
We had the best day..and it was great we had the place to ourselves and no worries of other doggies..just shows how even old pups of nearly 12 and 13 can still behave like Puppies!
A few treats and a big shake and we headed home..
Have a great Wednesday evfurry..Forrest the waterdog!
Well we iz glad it is Friday..grandad is not workin and that means we won’t be ignored by grannie who haz been mooching for the week BOL..oh she kinda came good today so we asked her poltitely fur a walkiez..
The sniffs were good today furiends..
Of course we are not allowed off lead..even on our 11 acrez! and the reason iz snakies..see grannie went to the vets today to get Forrest’z tabletz..and a man came in with a pretty Border Collie girl..grannie pretty much knew what was wrong…she was shaking all over an when she walked in she waz wobbly on her back legz..grannies heart sank..her peep waz a builder an he said he was workin under a house when she came back from a dam like this..and snakes love dams…
Grannie wished them both the best and got Forrest’s meds and came home all sad in the face..and she said today to us on walkies…stay close..
We were on a short leadz…
So we saw roos down by the dam and there was some big boyz..Forrest didn’t mind he found fresh roo poo and did do that roo poo that he do so well BOL..Grannie waz not impress…
Grannie did not walk us to the dam..she said her arms were not up to the wrasslin with us wantin a swim..
And no matter what we did..nup went just went past..but the smells were super!
We had a great walk though 45 minutes an we waz pooped..then grandad came home..well while Grannie sorted their dinner he went fur a walk to the dam..yep HE got to go..and you know what..we knew we missed out coz look what he found!
The Herons must have dropped it after chewing a claw off..boy that stinky goodness was ripe!
They are like prawns in color but they live in the mud so he is very dirty..and I bet he would taste delish!
And he was a biggie too..
Grandad said we couldn’t eat him cos I have tummy issues and plus he may haz been off..which is the best isn’t it BOL..i mean could it be worse than roo poo BOL…
This week has been a long onez and some things were odd..like this..
Dinnermintz collar..what happened here..we will never knowz..BOL..ans she ain’t sayin…just sayin…
Some things were nice..Grannie got some of her cherry tommies in the oven with some olive oils an balsamic vinegar an purple basil and salt an pepper an slow roasted them…she was so happy to have fresh stuffs from our veggie garden..she haz missed it so much..
And now she is off to beddies..she is sore an she is on steer-royds now and needs to rest up coz she will be eatin for Austalia now..poor Grannie..so let’s all hope that little Border Collie girl was ok..and that Dr Rayya could help her..you know Dr Rayya rang grannie last night about Forrest meds to say they had them and she asked if Bashful was still here BOL..Grannie said yes..Dr Rayya asked Grannie to please email her some of his travel pics to cheer her staffs up BOL BOL..so there you haz funny in the week as well!
